Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal

The Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal was built in the year 1900 in Wilhelminian style on the initiative of local citizens and businesses. Then as now it is considered to be a top class cultural venue and business centre – an image it has lived up to since the start.

“Totally wicked joint!” (Hape Kerkeling)

Since its re-opening in 1995, the Historische Stadthalle has gained a reputation as an event and conference venue far beyond the borders of its own German state: after a painstaking restoration that stayed true to the original building and included the installation of new, state of the art technical facilities.

“Fantastic concert hall, acoustically one of the best in the world, inspiring.” (Sir Simon Rattle)

All of its eight sumptuous rooms, reception hall and winter garden are multifunctional – first and foremost the Großer Saal. With its impressive height of 17 m, galleries and the space it offers to accommodate 1,500 guests, it constitutes the heart of the building. Nobody is able to withstand its magic.

The versatility of all the rooms – not only the Großer Saal – allows for an incredibly varied use: concerts of all genres, shows, parties, galas, conferences, seminars, presentations, trade fairs, contests, film and TV productions of all sizes are successfully put on here.

“The Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal was the event venue that made the 100th anniversary party of our company an unforgettable evening, one could even say it was historic.”
(Axel Vollmann, Vollmann Group Gevelsberg)

Just as an orchestra breathes life into a symphony, so the team at the Historische Stadthalle – the people behind the scenes – ensures that events in this unique building exceed expectations. Happy customers speak for themselves.

For this reason, the event service of the Historische Stadthalle has already been recognised with numerous awards.

“We have held our event at many locations.
But we found a home at the Historische Stadthalle.”

(Krista Holzapfel, Events & Organisation following an event for JEMAKO)

And there is more: the Historische Stadthalle is easy to reach by train, car, plane or Wuppertal’s suspension railway; excellent in-house catering by Culinaria Gastronomie offers the perfect complement to your services; Wuppertal is a golfer’s paradise; numerous cultural highlights from the The Cragg Foundation’s Sculpture Park to the Von der Heydt-Museum and the Tanztheater Pina Bausch.

Welcome to the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal!
